Note to self: Don’t piss off David Letterman

Letterman keeps up McCain tirade – CNN.com.

Noting that McCain wanted to postpone Friday’s first debate with Obama, Letterman said running mate Sarah Palin wanted to put off her debate with Democrat Joe Biden until after Election Day. Letterman said Palin’s meeting with world leaders at the United Nations was like “take-your-daughter-to-work day.”

Oh, glee! I love it when people see through transparency.

  1. Letterman needs to get over it., He never has been very funny. He should be glad anyone even wants to do his show at all instead of whining because a US Senator went to Washington to do his job. Big deal Senator McCain took time for a more informational news stop on his way out. Letterman over-rates himself and the importance of his show. He is an entertainer – period. John McCain could have gone on as scheduled, and probably gained some good airtime with viewers that would have helped him. I give him credt for forgoing that to do what he believed, and I believe, was more important. You had a large segament of the House who was not being heard. We had a $700 tax-payer funded bailout being shoved down our throughts like a used car by a car salesman. The democrats threw hissy fits when McCain showed up – just like a salesman trying to get you to buy RIGHT NOW, without having time to reflect on what you are doing. Now we have pause, and an alternative plan being considered. If ANY of the alternative plan gets integrated into the final draft it will be an improvement over what might have been. We will have a better final draft thanks to the moderating of Senator McCain. This is something tax payers will have to live with for a long, long time. Certainly worth missing David Letterman over.

  2. Or, they see through the shiny tokenism. I’d rather stare at a shiny mirrorball than this.

  3. Pawprints, his own campaign admitted that he wasn’t really helping or getting anything done in Washington. Even if Letterman isn’t that important, is he so unimportant that McCain has to LIE in order to get out of doing his show? Couldn’t he just say, “Hey, I can’t do your show because I have to talk to Katie Couric on the news before I go back to Washington”? He had to lie and say he was literally about to get onto an airplane and couldn’t make it to the studio? I mean, there’s canceling for a good reason (whether or not you think this WAS a good reason), and then there’s being tacky. This was just tacky. Plus… he didn’t have enough time to tell the truth to Letterman, but he had the time to sit and get his nose powdered? God forbid the guy should go on with his own face in the interests of saving some time? Let’s face it – the guy is afraid to show America his true face, in more ways than one.
