Wow. McCain’s advisers need to just stop talking

First it was Charles Black’s remark about how McCain’s campaign would benefit from a “fresh terrorist attack” on US soil. Now, another top McCain advisor, Phil Gramm, has called America a “nation of whiners,” and claims that the recession is all in our heads. He disparages “mental depression,” and then claims we’re in a “mental recession.” That’s really easy to say when you’re a rich white man. Of course you’re not experiencing the pain of recession – the money we don’t have is somehow finding its way into YOUR pockets!

Great guy, that Phil Gramm.

These are the men that McCain keeps close to him – at least, until the public finds out what they talk about behind closed doors. What does that say about McCain himself?

  1. Why is it that when McCain’s people say stupid stuff, he manages, somehow, to turn it around on Obama. McCain needs to take it like a man and own it. And if he still feels the needs to criticize Obama, at least put it in the correct context. Explain WHY Obama is against offshore drilling, etc.

  2. I’m glad to see that the news media is not glossing over this event but actually covering it. Do people believe everything they read? If some of them do, then let’s report responsibly from now on.

  3. Yeah, he does somehow always manage to drag Obama into it – or he lets his adviser take the fall and fires him, only to hire somebody else who will soon commit another political blunder. At least Black’s comment was true, albeit a truth you don’t want to be caught contemplating if you’re the person who stands to benefit from it. Gramm was just so far off it was downright offensive, and worrisome – how can we believe McCain will address the recession if his top advisers are claiming it doesn’t exist?
