Armed guards keep watch over church services – CNN.com.

Uh, yeah. Welcome to what the Jewish community has had to deal with for years. I remember during the first Gulf War we were afraid to go to Hebrew school because there were reports of bomb threats against Jewish institutions around the city. My synagogue has had an armed security guard for as long as I can remember.

It’s not so much fun realizing that people hate you, is it?

  1. lets face it we have ALL been discriminated against at some point, sometimes personally sometimes ancestorally it’s too bad that it all has come to this and as a gay man i dont hate anyone but some religions bring trouble to their own front door like the mormons and catholics they have a very checkered and tarnished past and yet set in judgement of everyone different from them if they would bring people back into the fold by not being so hateful then everyone i am sure can live in harmony

  2. True enough. Actually I’m pretty sure they’re not really talking about anti-religion crime so much as they are thinking about terrorist attacks or crimes committed by people of other religions. There’s also just the simple fact that there seems to be more crime nowadays, especially as the economy goes down and both the poverty level and the population go up. It’s a shame it has to come to this, but they might as well not act so surprised, given that other groups of people have been facing this kind of threat for years. It’s like it was okay for us, but astonishing for them, you know? We’re all at risk here.
